In
this piece Barragán explores everyday life in big cities,
in this case México City. The busyness of the days and then
the private and community life in the barrios at night inspire the
scenes that make up Caminata y Sentata. Caminata is the day section
and it reflects the squizofrenic aspect of the city through movement,
and Sentata, using bright green kid's chairs plays with images of
nightlife and solitude. This piece was created with the Universidad
de las Américas -Puebla dance students later fuuly developed
with the 2004 cast in Seattle. Music by Terry Bozio and Tonatiu
Avila (student of the same University) support the tone of
the piece which is latino and very amusing.
Estrellata
will soon complete a trilogy with these two pieces. (2006?)
