“Masajes de Carla” mixes the philosophy of Mackenzie physical therapy, Pilates, yoga, and dance, and the result is a massage system that helps people achieve relaxation and skeletal alignment. Advice includes philosophy of Mackenzie physical therapy, Pilates principles of strengthening abdominal and spinal musculature to support postural stability and balance with alignment-based yoga’s principle of proper physical placement and an understanding of anatomical structure.
Bio: Carla Barragán launched her choreographic career in 1990, in New York City through Birlibirloque, now BQdanza. Once a national Gymnastics champion, then a dancer, she has been actively involved in the Latin American Festivals as well as the New York and Northwest scenes since 1990 as a choreographer. She was the dance and theatre specialist at Elk Plain School of Choice in WA state USA, and Academia Cotopaxi in Ecuador. Her work has been commissioned for Strictly Seattle, the Seattle International Children’s Festival, Ecuador’s National Dance Company, and UDLA Danza in Puebla, Mexico, among others. Barragán holds a MA from T.C. Columbia University, where she studied kinesiology and anatomy and also taught for a year as an adjunct instructor, and a BFA from SUNY Purchase, NY.
